Apellation Controllée

Nestled in the Ebro vallery over an area of 57,000 hectares spread across the provinces of Navarre, La Rioja and Alava, the D.O.Ca. Rioja produces 250 million litres of fine wine out of which 85% is red wine while the rest is either white or rosé wine.

Alava´s Rioja region covers 12,050 hectares, where the main variety of grape for wine production is the tempranillo grape. It features a frank palate which is interesting in a young wine and velvety then aged.

Wine is divided into the following categories according to its kind of production and the care taken:

Young (Joven): Wines of one or two years which are directly bottled.

Vintage (Crianza): Three-year-old wines with one year in the cask.

Reserve (Reserva): Wines selected from the best vintage seasons with an aging of three years and a minimum of one year in the cask.

Grand Reserve (Gran Reserva): The best wines are selected during exceptional vintage seasons and are stored in casks for a minimun of two years and in a bottle for three years.
